2024 Splash of Inspiration Challenge

The Splash of Inspiration Challenge is an exciting opportunity for students to unleash their creativity while promoting water conservation and environmental awareness. This challenge invites classrooms to submit artwork reflecting water’s beauty and the importance of preserving our precious resources.


Competition Details

  • The Splash of Inspiration Challenge encourages students to create artwork centered around the following prompt:
    • CREATE AN ARTWORK THAT SHOWS THE JOURNEY OF WATER FROM ITS BEGINNING TO ITS END IN OUR COMMUNITY, AND WHAT YOU ARE DOING TO MAKE OUR WATER BETTER.
  • Artwork medium will be provided for participating classrooms after registration.
  • Submission Deadline: 5 APRIL 2024
  • Eligibility: OPEN TO GRADES 3 – 5. EACH PARTICIPATING CLASS MUST HAVE A WELL WATCH PRESENTATION SCHEDULED, OR COMPLETED IN THE 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR. EACH PARTICIPATING CLASS CAN SUBMIT ONE ENTRY.

Recognition and Prizes

  • Winning classes will be honored at the Caring for Our Watersheds Awards Ceremony in May 2024. Prizes will be awarded to the top entries, and winning artwork will be displayed prominently at the CCWCD’s Children’s Water Festival.
  • Participating classrooms will receive certificates of participation for their efforts in promoting water conservation.
  • Artwork will be judged based on a rubric that will be provided to registered classrooms at a later date. A panel of judges, including local artists and environmental educators, will evaluate the submissions and select the winning classrooms.
  • Winning artwork will be showcased at the Children’s Water Festival on 1 May 2024, where attendees can admire the creativity and talent of participating students. The exhibition serves as a platform to raise awareness about water health and inspire others to take action.

FAQs

Who can participate in the Splash of Inspiration Challenge?
The competition is open to students in grades 3 – 5. Participating classrooms must have received a Well Watch Presentation to their classroom, or have a presentation scheduled in the 2023-2024 school year. For more information, see our Program Process page on our website.
Can teachers outside the designated grade levels participate?
The competition and celebrating ceremonies are targeted towards grades 3-5, so teachers outside of these grade levels may not participate. Students in middle or high school will receive alternative student action opportunities in the future!
Is there a cost to participate in the Splash of Inspiration Challenge?
Participation in the competition is free of charge! Classrooms are responsible for providing any supplemental art supplies and materials outside of what the Well Watch Program will provide you.
Can students submit individual artwork?
Individual artwork is not allowed as a submission to the challenge. However, students are always encouraged to create their own art pieces, and collaborate on how to combine their ideas into a class-wide artpiece.
How will artwork be submitted?
A Well Watch Ambassador will collect artwork from classrooms on the due date of submissions.
Are there any specific format or size requirements for artwork?
The medium and specifications of the artwork, as well as basic art materials, will be provided by the Well Watch Program following registration to the challenge.
Will all students in the class be honored at the awards ceremony?
Due to banquet space restrictions, we must limit the attending parties. Details on the amount of students permitted to attend will be given upon winning the competition.
